The Napa Foundation for Options in Education is seeking experienced, dynamic, and passionate certificated teachers with diverse subject-matter backgrounds to join our substitute teacher pool, with the possibility of consideration for anticipated full-time teaching positions beginning Fall 2026. This role is ideal for adaptable educators with strong instructional skills, broad curriculum experience, and a desire to contribute to an innovative countywide charter middle school.
Teachers report to the Head of School and are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction using applicable California-adopted curricula and aligned instructional resources across subject areas. Teachers foster a collaborative and engaging classroom environment for a diverse student population and support strong partnerships among students, families, faculty, and the broader school community.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Teachers, including substitute teachers, may be responsible for the following duties, as assigned:
Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment aligned with school policies and focused on students’ social-emotional development and positive character growth.
Implement classroom systems and behavior management practices that promote consistency, engagement, and high expectations.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Possession of, or active enrollment in, a California Multiple Subject or Single Subject teaching credential program
CLAD or BCLAD certification preferred
Ability to teach middle school students (grades 6–8)
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Teaching experience across one or more subject areas using California-adopted or standards-aligned curricula (e.g., ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Integrated or Elective courses)
Familiarity with project-based learning, interdisciplinary instruction, or the New Tech Network model
Willingness to participate in curriculum-specific training as needed
Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data to inform instruction
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Comfort with educational technology and learning management systems
Flexibility and adaptability in varied classroom settings, including substitute assignments
