Vicky Cruz

Operations Manager

Hi! I’m Vicky Cruz, the Operations Manager here at Mayacamas! I’ve been working with middle school students and families since 2015, and I’m so happy to be part of the Mayacamas community.

When I’m not at school helping keep things running smoothly, I’m a busy mom of three! All three of my kids do cheer, so our family life is full of practices, competitions, and lots of cheering from the sidelines.

A few fun facts about me: I’m a Virgo, and fall is my absolute favorite season! 🍂 I love getting to know our students and families, so if you see me around campus, come say hi!

Laurie Brunson

ELA/Social Studies

My name is Laurie Brunson, and I am so excited to be teaching ELA and Social Studies again this year! I’ve been teaching for 16 years, and I truly love what I do. I am especially thrilled to be back at Mayacamas for my second year!

Outside of the classroom, my heart belongs to my family. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, four children, and seven amazing grandchildren who keep life bright and busy. When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me traveling, unwinding at the beach, or lost in a good book.

I’m looking forward to a fabulous school year filled with learning, growth, and discovery together!

Sergio Ortega

PE/Leadership

My name is Coach Ortega and I am eager to teach all of your students non-traditional sports and traditional ones as well. I focus on breath work, guided meditation and mindfulness strategies in order to help kids cope with stress, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed. I will challenge your kids to use their non dominant side and transfer it to using it at home also while helping around at home. I will use their existing skills or knowledge to help them grow in areas that might need fine tuning.

I invite you all to come visit our playground and see what it is the kids are working on during the school year. I look forward to meeting you all and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or call the school and set up an appointment for us to meet.
