DESCRIPTION
The Afterschool Program Manager will lead and oversee afterschool activities for our middle school students. This position will be responsible for managing a variety of enrichment programs, including guiding students through educational activities, homework help, tutoring, outdoor recreation, and creative programming. Additionally, the Manager will help ensure students get to and from the afterschool music program.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for working with middle school students, a flair for creativity, and the ability to adapt and lead in a dynamic, growing school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Afterschool Program Leadership: Design, plan, and implement a variety of engaging afterschool activities that promote creativity, collaboration, and personal development.
Student Supervision and Support: Provide guidance and supervision to students during afterschool hours, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all participants.
Homework Help & Tutoring: Offer homework assistance and academic support to students as needed, fostering a productive afterschool study environment.
Outdoor Activities: Organize and lead outdoor play and recreational activities, promoting physical activity, teamwork, and fun.
Afterschool Music Program Coordination: Direct students to the afterschool music program, ensuring proper enrollment and providing support as needed.
Creative Programming: Develop new and innovative afterschool activities that align with the interests and needs of the students, encouraging exploration and skill-building in areas such as art, sports, technology, and more.
Collaboration with Faculty: Work closely with teachers and staff to ensure alignment of afterschool activities with classroom goals and students’ overall educational development.
Program Evaluation & Improvement: Regularly assess the effectiveness of afterschool programs, gather student feedback, and make improvements to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with middle school-aged students in an educational, recreational, or afterschool setting.
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
A creative and flexible mindset, willing to develop new activities and approaches based on student interests.
Ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
A passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes social-emotional learning and student achievement.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving school environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in designing or leading afterschool programs, extracurricular activities, or tutoring.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Fluent in Spanish a plus.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
